Let's see ... since I'm sure you love May '77 so much, I'll suggest 5/17/77 and the one from DP 29, which is two days later :-) Also, 11/24/79 is really beautiful, with a nice sense of dynamics (if I'm using that word right), Brent fitting in perfectly, and good strong Phil. I like the simplicity of the earlier ones, where you really hear each instrument; I also like Jerry's younger voice on it.

I expect what a lot of folks don't like is the lack of space for jamming, but (even though I know this is heresy) I don't think EVERYTHING has to be jammed out to the max. Sometimes the lyrics, or the tune, or the playing between the stanzas, or the combination of everything is just beautiful in itself.

I've yet to hear a better Terrapin than 1-15-79. I can see both sides of the argument though as some of the late 80's versions were better than early 80's. That being said, I usually skip Terrapin.
